Vikings playing against Malton on a lovely fresh day at Silver Royd
Our build-up before the game was much more structured than previous weeks.
Vikings were quick out of blocks within 5 minutes a good solid scrum allowed number 8 Ryan Fowler to pick up and score. Another try by a man mountain Will Rennard which was converted by Skipper Alex Rowley then, within 20 minutes, two chases created by centres Joe Marshall and Matty Young gave speedster Tom Anderson a brace of tries leaving the half time score 22-0.
Second half started as the first half finished – the pack lead by hooker Ian Williams, with Nick Lovering, Josh Broadhead grafting and making the hard yards to allow the on-fire backs possession time after time, the back row of Will Rennard, Elliot Hutchinson and Matty Ward quelling any Malton momentum.
A great try from full back Sam Jackson converted by Alex Rowley. Then a forwards try from Paul Taylor – driving over with his prop mates Tom Fish and Sam Peate converted by Alex Rowley. Then the try of the game, Connor Ward to Joe Marshall, to Reece Coney to Lewis Ward to Joe Messruther who gave the pass to Matty Young to score an incredible team try. Vikings were not done – a break from Will Rennard who had been everywhere all afternoon stretched his long giraffe-like legs to score converted by Skipper Rowley ending the game 46-0 to the Vikings.
Man of the Match was Elliott Hutchinson who was absolutely immense for the Vikings.
Coach Bone “I knew we had this performance in ourselves, so proud of how we expressed ourselves today”.
