First game of year at Silver Royd for the mighty Vikings .
Vikings needed to continue as they left off from last week’s game.
The conditions were not conducive for flowing rugby, but within the first 10 minutes of a few unforced errors from both sides, a great try scored by Craig Fairbairn in the corner. 15 minutes later Tom Anderson went in on the other wing to make it 10-nil at half time against the wind.
Second half both sides tried to play rugby with the Vikings now getting control in the set pieces. Another try for Tom Anderson – again unconverted. Man of the match, Scrum Half Joe Edmond, was becoming a great link between forwards and backs. Stand-in captain Connor Ward doing a deft kick to collect off a deflection to score – which he converted. Then from the kick off Sam Jackson saw a gap to race through to score. 10 minutes to go Tom Anderson flew in to get his hat trick. Hullensians finished the game with a well-deserved try of their own.
Final score 32-5 to the Vikings, great performance from the back row Andy Rossol, James Emsley, Elliot Hutchinson and Matty Ward, gave the Vikings the quick ball to allow the backs to score. Great performance.
