Vikings hosted a Beverley side who, when the same two sides met earlier in the season, produced a cracking game.
The elements would play a huge factor in the game ahead.
From the kick off a try from Liam Braithwaite, then two more tries followed from James Emsley and Tom Anderson, Vikings 17-0 up after 15 minutes set the tone for the rest of half. Further tries from Chris Mabbett, Chris Purdy and Tom Anderson with 3 conversions from Captain Tom Read. Just before half time Beverley got on the scoreboard with a well-worked try making the score 36-7 in favour of the Vikings.
Second half started as the first half finished, tries from the outstanding versatile Craig Fairbairn playing at scrum half, Duracell bunny Elliott Hutchinson and a brace from, yes you guessed it, Tom Anderson giving him a total of four tries, two conversions from Captain Tom Read who is really enjoying the responsibility of leading a great set of lads and one from Craig Fairbairn leaving the final score 60-7. Stand-out performances from Craig Fairbairn and Josh Broadhead as joint Man-of-the-Match.
Craig Bone: “Everything clicked today and we were very clinical in our finishing especially with the elements. When I advised Chris Purdy he was starting in the centre it was basically his dream had come true and to add to it he had his mate Chris Mabbett outside him, he was very proud with a tear in his eye to take the role on – which he did with gusto.
Simon Dixon playing at 10 was brilliant like a Captain Mainwaring controlling his troops and everything we did, like all great sportsman he came off with 1 minute to go to get his own round of applause. Well done Dicko.
Great performance from everyone well done.”
