U16’s travelled away to West Park Leeds Sunday 8th November in the Yorkshire Plate. Scarborough travelled with another changed side following more illness and injury in the team. During the first five minutes the game was played in the forwards Scarborough dominating the rucking and mauling, however, from a loose kick the Leeds backs collected the ball and spread it wide to leave the Scarborough right wing marking three for an easy run in. The Leeds team spotted the weakness and as soon as they could shipped the ball wide at every opportunity to try and take advantage of the naïve defensive play in the backs. Although the Scarborough forwards were bossing the game up front, the three quarters were having little joy and gaps were appearing, Greig Dixon at fullback filling the gaps whenever possible and tackling anything he could get near. The halftime score finished 27-0 to the home side.

The second half saw a huge change in the game the Scarborough forwards dominating every part of the game, now with some loose passing Scarborough could still not turn all their possession advantage into points, excellent work by the number eight Sam Hills competing and turning ball over time and again. Alex Collins at outside centre kept attacking the Leeds back line with hard direct running backed up with hard tackling in defence. Scarborough then broke through the centres to score. Although Leeds managed another score Scarborough continued to play the game in the Leeds half and once again with poor defensive work in the backs the Leeds side moved the ball wide to run in their final try the end score 37-5.

This Sunday U16’s home against York.
