Under-16s

Scarborough played Hull at home on the main pitch and for a change it was the Scarborough team’s size and power that was evident from the outset. Playing into the breeze for the first half Scarborough dominated all aspects of the game with fierce rucking and mauling gave plenty of ball for the three quarters to use. This they took advantage of and with some good running lines and quick passing soon had the visitors conceding points. The Scarborough pack worked hard and the back row players of Barnes, Hills and Warren were evident everywhere on the pitch and the physicality of Sam Woodward were too much for Hull to live with. The score at half time was 24-0. Changes were made at to keep the match alive and again try players in different positions and following some poor defensive work by Scarborough, Hull found their way over the line for their only try of the match. Scarborough rallied, re-organised and with a fine display throughout the game at scrum half by Jordan Holloway sealed the victory 39-5. Hull’s tackling should not go unmentioned and although outsized showed a high standard of skill never shirking their task. Next week the U16’s take on Ripon, a vastly different opposition.
