Under-13s Report
On the youth/junior front Scarborough under-13s got off to a winning start in their first game of the season last Sunday with an impressive 21-12 victory over Bridlington. Scarborough made a hesitant start with Bridlington's forwards having the better of the early exchanges but despite solid defence from the home side the visitors took a 5-0 lead with the first try of the match. Scarborough bounced back with a try which took fullback Joe Marshall from under his own posts to score between the sticks at the other end, fly-half Sam Dickenson adding the extras. The visitors stuck back almost immediately and a converted try saw them lead 12-7 at the interval. After the break Scarborough took control and a try from No8 Callum Marshall converted by Dickinson edged them 14-12 ahead. Scarborough controlled the fourth quarter and when a third try came it was no surprise that it was from a now strongly attacking pack with wing forward Max Kynman going over from short range under the posts. Dickenson finished the afternoon with a perfect record converting his third try. Man of the match was awarded by the Bridlington Coaches to Joe Marshall but the Scarborough Coaches made a second award to Scrum Half Brynn Andrews who had battled bravely all afternoon before eventually being substituted with a back injury.
