On behalf of the President and the Board of Directors I would like to express our thanks and gratitude to all members who volunteered to help during the Roses day last Saturday and in the preceding days.

Our club put on an excellent show and that is in no small part due to the army of helpers we were able to call on.  We have received many complimentary messages this week and all of you should be proud of your contribution and helping to showcase Silver Royd as the UK's premier community amateur rugby club.

I would personally like to highlight the stirling work and commitment of all the Silver Royd staff, whose efforts were quite simply outstanding.  Graeme Jeffrey and Al Wheldon deserve particular praise as they worked tirelessly, for very long hours, in the weeks leading up to the event.

We are fortunate to have so many willing volunteers to compliment a skilled and professional workforce.

Thanks again to all.

Quote by the Lancashire Coach Mark Nelson

“The whole package was excellent. Scarborough RUFC’s magnificent facilities are Championship standard, the pitch was superb, everything about the place was spot on.

The whole day was a credit to everyone involved and a glowing testament to the appeal that County Rugby has.”

By Dave Campbell

Over 2000 people flocked to Scarborough Rugby club’s Silver Royd ground on Saturday (May 12th) for the Bill Beaumont Cup county championship fixture between Yorkshire and Lancashire.
In perfect weather the club also hosted the curtain raiser fixture between a Yorkshirerugby.net XV and an Overseas XV.

With several bars and food outlets catering for the refreshment needs of people who had travelled to the coast from both counties and plenty of entertainment for the kids a great day was had by all.
