Club seeking new Rugby Development Officer

We're recruiting! Scarborough Rugby Club are looking to appoint a Rugby Development Officer following the announcement this week that Youth Development Officer Graham Hogg will be leaving his post at Easter. The new Rugby Development Officer role will involve working with the local schools and colleges delivering our award winning Active Youth Programme as well helping to develop our Junior teams at all age grades. Zoe Aldcroft picked for Old Mutual Wealth Series

Zoe Aldcroft picked for Old Mutual Wealth Series - England Women's head coach Simon Middleton has announced his 32-player squad for the Old Mutual Wealth Series against France, New Zealand and Canada with an away fixture against Ireland in November. The Red Roses’ squad features seven names who represented Team GB in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, including Emily Scarratt, Katy Mclean and Danielle Waterman, and have now returned to the 15-a-side programme. Included is Scarborough’s Zoe Aldcroft who has moved through the ranks of women’s rugby since starting as a mini-rugby player at Scarborough RUFC. Zoe has been on course for this honour when, at just 13 years old, she represented Yorkshire at under-15 level and moved swiftly forward being one of the England Under-20s side which recently won the under-20s European Championship. Along the way she played for Malton girls, West Park Leeds, Hartpury College and Mowden Park.... (more)

Rugby Awareness Course

Rugby Awareness - A new course piloting at the moment around the area. It is for parents and coaches and will be held on 2nd November at the Club from 6.30pm  to 7.45pm. The idea is to allay any fears parents may have with regards to the safety aspects of rugby. (more)

90th Anniversary Party – 19th November 2016

Scarborough Rugby Club celebrates its 90th birthday this season and to mark the occasion of the formation, we're throwing a party. Saturday 19th November 7.30pm till 1am. New YDO appointed

New YDO appointment Graham Hogg is looking to make his mark on and off the park at Scarborough RUFC. The 29-year-old has taken over as Youth Development Officer after Tomasz Chadwick’s departure to take up a position at Hull City Football Club, and he brings an impressive CV with him. Hogg, brother of current Scotland international Stuart, has played for Scotland in the IRB Sevens World Series as well as representing his country at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels. Viewing Scarborough as a sleeping giant, the utility back is looking to play his part in waking the club from its slumber. Club Captain 2016-17 Season

Scarborough RUFC have handed the first-team captaincy to Matty Jones, replacing Tom Ratcliffe, who relinquished the post last season. Jones returns to the club at the end of September for a second stint and will walk straight into the club as captain. Matty Jones is Scarborough RUFC's new skipper The Kiwi isn’t fazed by stepping in at the deep end. A delighted Jones said: “It was great news to be asked by the club to take on the captain role this year. “Tom (Ratcliffe) has done a great job over the past few seasons with the boys and I’m hoping to add on from him. “I’ve always had leadership roles within the rugby clubs I’ve played at around the world and to finally be asked to captain for the first time at senior level I’m over the moon.” Scarborough RUFC’s director of rugby Mike Holder is excited by the appointment.... SRUFC YDO leaves Club for new role

Scarborough RUFC is on the search for a new YDO following Tomasz' Chadwick's announcement that he is leaving to follow a career with the commercial arm of a Premier League Football Club. Tomasz has been with the Club for the past two years and has worked tirelessly to promote and grow youth rugby in the borough and we are eternally grateful for all his hard work and wish him the best of luck in his new role. His departure means the Club are now on the look-out for a new Youth Development Officer (YDO). Silver Royd development plans

Scarborough RUFC officials have set the wheels in motion to upgrade their facilities at Silver Royd. The ambitious plans, outlined in an open letter to members, sponsors and supporters by chief executive Graeme Young recently, include a new £500,000 4G artificial pitch, a cricket pavilion and a new digital scoreboard. Silver Royd could be set to undergo a new phase of development The club requested feedback from members after outlining their ideas to further develop their £4 million Scalby Road HQ. “We’ve been getting a wide range of feedback from members,” said Young. “There’s been a lot of interest in the artificial pitch proposal. “We need to look at these plans as a club and see which ideas would give us a good return on investment, while also helping us achieve our main goal, which is to improve provision for rugby union in the town.” WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PLAN?... RFU Council votes to maintain the Status Quo for 1st XV rugby

Adult Competition Review RFU Council maintains status quo for 1st XV rugby. At its meeting today, the RFU Council voted to overturn its original decision to implement the Adult Competition Review recommendations concerning adult 1st XV rugby. This follows further extensive consultation with all parties, which included an independent survey from a leading UK market research company Ipsos MORI. Responses were sought from players, club officials and clubs as a whole to give the broadest cross-section of views possible. “Council’s decision to suspend implementation of the recommendations for adult 1st XV and cup rugby was not taken lightly but was the result of careful consideration and feedback from people across the game,” said RFU Chairman Bill Beaumont.  “A great deal of meaningful debate and in-depth consultation has continued throughout this review process and some very useful insights have been gained which we will use in our ongoing work to grow... Yorkshire vs Lancashire Roses Match – May 7, 2016

Scarborough RUFC host Yorkshire vs Lancashire Roses County Rugby match, May 7th. Scarborough RUFC received a huge festive boost after they were again awarded Yorkshire’s home clash against Roses rivals Lancashire. The pair have met at Silver Royd before and will meet at Scarborough RUFC’s impressive £4million Scalby Road HQ again after impressing organisers with their hosting of several high-key fixtures in recent years. The Roses clash is yet another coup for the club after they successfully hosted Yorkshire Carnegie’s British & Irish Cup win against London Scottish earlier this month. The Roses battle will take place on Saturday May 7 2016, and the club are planning a host of matchday activities for younger fans and corporate packages for those wishing to watch the match in style. Players Reunion – 4th September

Scarborough RUFC old boys set for annual reunion Scarborough RUFC players old and new will be at Silver Royd on Friday for our 11th annual Club reunion. The evening will kick off at 7pm with a tag rugby tournament including eight mixed teams from across the ages. All former players aged over 75 will receive Club ties from Nigel Wilson. All current first-team players will also receive their shirts for the season, ahead of our first league match against Selby the next day.
